STCC response to 4 to Fix election
Update: I received a second email from STCC this morning with the following response-
While 4-to-Fix ultimately passed on a county wide basis, STCC is declaring a victory because all four propositions failed in South Tulsa. For the six precincts over which STCC has the most influence, the cumulative polling results were as follows:I received the following email from Michael Covey, STCC's spokesman.Proposition 1: 695 yes / 854 no 55%
Proposition 2: 633 yes / 911 no 59%
Proposition 3: 624 yes / 917 no 59%
Proposition 4: 654 yes / 888 no 58%Given that STCC's campaign was a total grass roots effort with a budgetof under $2,000, STCC believes that these numbers prove that every vote counts and that a well organized citizens organization can make a difference at the polls. STCC promises that it will continue its fight for the "responsible" building of the proposed South Tulsa Bridge and that it will continue to represent the interests of the citizens of South Tulsa. Below is a blog from Roemerman on the Record regarding STCC and the 4-to-Fix vote. STCC delivers again. To see the blog for yourself, please go to http://roemerman.blogspot.com/.I'll have more commentary about the outcome of this election, but right now it's late and I've got some coding/website problems to tackle."While 4 to Fix The County ultimately passed county wide, in South Tulsa it did not fair as well. STCC had promised to send a message to elected officials who failed to listen to them by voting down any tax increase. Tonight they have delivered on that promise. In the area around the base of STCC influence, all 4 measures failed.
This area is comprised of 6 precincts; when you add up the votes from these precincts, you see that 4 to Fix was defeated handily.
Proposition 1: 695 yea / 854 nay 55%
Proposition 2: 633 yea / 911 nay 59%
Proposition 3: 624 yea / 917 nay 59%
Proposition 4: 654 yea / 888 nay 58%Well done STCC!"
