1/12/06 City Council Meeting - Items of Interest

A couple of interesting items that has popped up on tonight's City Council Meeting -

8d. ADDED BY ADDENDUM::
Direct the Legal Department, in cooperation with the Council Attorney, to draft an ordinance within ten (10) days of approval of this directive amending the existing Ethics Commission Ordinance, and give the Ethics Commission the authority to take complaints and investigate complaints regarding Trusts, Authorities, Boards and Commissions and, to be able to report to the City Council as frequently as appropriate. (Turner) 04-663-8
Anyone remotely involved with Tulsa realizes the power of the ABC's and the lack of oversight associated with them. I'm going to keep an eye out on this one since generally anything related to the Ethics Commission Ordinance is usually interesting and worth the time. The last thing I heard about the Ethics Commission Ordinance was over on Batesline regarding Councilor Mautino filing an ethics infraction against Mayor LaFortune.

The next item.....

8e. ADDED BY ADDENDUM: City of Tulsa’s policy on nepotism, including hiring, promotions, and continued employment. (Turner) 05-1813
Will this come into play with Theresa Buchert's candidate filing for city council district 6? Over at MeeCiteeWurkor's website, a post authored by TulTellitarian delves explores this scenario.

Whether you catch the City Council meeting in person or watch it on TGOV, make sure you keep an eye on the situation!

Nice to see they finally put the agenda up but how do they get away with not following the 24 rule they have?

Well, I actually asked Mrs. Buchert about that presentation...read all about it here

David asks:

How do they get away with not following the 24 rule they have?
They probably consider the time that it is filed with the City Clerk and not when the agenda is posted on the website.... does that sound believable?
