Movies on the River

It's Saturday night and you're wondering what to do with the family that doesn't cost a small King's ransom. How about packing some goodies in a cooler, loading up the lawn chairs, and heading on down to the river to catch a movie with the family?

River Parks will be hosting Movies on the River again this year. The movies are starting earlier in the year and will be every Saturday night between April 15 - May 20. Last year the movies were later in the summer and shown on Thursday nights. I for one like the format change since it will get dark earlier and most people won't have to work the next day.

The movies are still reasonably priced..... FREE, which falls in my price range handily. My wife and I attended most of the movies last year and had a good time. You really can't beat the downtown Tulsa backdrop! Here's the info from the River Parks website:

April 15th (Saturday)
Movies on the River - "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Free outdoor movie shown at the Amphitheatre, 2100 South Jackson Ave, in the River West Festival Park beginning at dusk. Movie is rated PG. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating. Food and beverages available for purchase, or you may bring your own.
Checking my trusty sunrise/sunset table tells me that sunset for April 15th is 7:58 p.m. which means you may want to make it to the River West Festival Park around 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring a firsbee and let the kids work off some of their energy before the movie, and then kick back and enjoy the show.

More information about the movies is available at 94.1 The Sound's website, and while you are there don't forget to register for "The Best Seats in the House" contest sponsered by Fuddruckers.

Special thanks to the following sponsors for bringing this event back again this year! U.S. Cellular, Channel 8, 94.1 The Sound, Fuddruckers and of course the River Parks Authority.
