My First Entry Into A Photo Contest
While attending Mayfest and clicking photos of downtown, Michael Patton told me about a photo contest at Keep Tulsa Beautiful. I decided to shoot some night photos in and around River Parks and the above picture is my submission for the month of June. The photo was taken with my Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) using a 18-55mm lens. I didn't use a flash and had the camera mounted on a tripod so I could do a long term exposure shot.
If your interested in entering the contest I've included more information below. Tulsa has many wonderful sights that make it a "photo rich environment" so start taking pictures and submitting them!
Monthly contest seeks perfect pictures of TulsaIs it Woodward Park in the spring?
The art deco architecture?
Maybe it's a hilltop view from west Tulsa.
Tulsa is one of the most picturesque cities in America. Keep Tulsa Beautiful wants local photographers, both professional and amateur, to share their captured images of the city.
Beginning June 1, Keep Tulsa Beautiful is sponsoring Picture Perfect Tulsa, a monthly photography contest designed to capture Tulsa in every season and recognize local shutterbugs.
"We know Tulsa is a beautiful city," said KTB Board President Michael Patton. "The goal of our contest is to get everyone to focus on the beauty of Tulsa. This is an opportunity for amateurs and professionals to make a record of Tulsa's beauty for all of us to use and share."
KTB plans to catalog the entries for use in later publications and possibly for Tulsa memorabilia such as note cards, post cards and calendars, Patton said.
Every month photographers will have the opportunity to submit photos via KTB's Website, www.tulsabeautiful.com. The top winner from entries received through the Web site each month will receive a $50 cash award. The three top finishers will move on to the seasonal contest and vie for a chance to win more prizes.
Winning photos will be displayed in a prominent public location and published in the Tulsa Front Page newspaper each month. Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate.
Keep Tulsa Beautiful is a non-profit organization devoted to sponsoring and promoting events to foster pride in Tulsa and its natural beauty. Membership includes private citizens, local governments and businesses who share a common goal.
